Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year at Thurgood Marshall MS!

Dear TMMS Students, Families, and Community,

As we begin the 2024-2025 school year, I am thrilled to welcome each of you to Thurgood Marshall Middle School. We are excited to embark on another journey of learning, growth, and achievement together.

At TMMS, our primary goal is to create an environment where every student feels safe, secure, and welcomed. We believe that when students feel valued and supported, they are more likely to engage deeply in their learning and achieve their highest potential. This year, we are committed to fostering a culture of open communication and collaboration among students, families, and staff. Your involvement and feedback are essential as we work together to support our students' success.

Our rigorous instructional programs are designed to challenge and inspire our students, equipping them with the tools and resources they need to become lifelong learners and active contributors to their community. We are dedicated to providing a high-quality education that prepares our students for the future, both academically and personally.

We look forward to a year filled with meaningful learning experiences, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to excellence. Together, we can make this school year the best one yet for our TMMS students.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Let’s make the 2024-2025 school year a remarkable and successful one!

Warm regards,

Trina Hayes, Principal
Thurgood Marshall Middle School

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Dear TMMS Family,

I wanted to inform you that, due to the current condition of our lockers, students will not be assigned a locker for the 2024-2025 school year. The lockers currently in place are original to Thurgood Marshall MS and have unfortunately suffered from rust and corrosion over the years. Additionally, the locker numbers have worn away due to extended use.

As an alternative, each student will be issued a clear backpack by Thurgood Marshall MS. In these backpacks, students will carry their folders, a spiral or composition notebook for each class, and pens and pencils. For some classes, students will be issued textbooks, which they will be required to keep at home and maintain in good condition. These textbooks are to be used at home for homework or study purposes, and students will need to return them at the end of the school year. Teachers will have a class set of textbooks for students to use during class time.

We understand that not having a locker may present challenges for some students. To help alleviate these concerns, we are limiting the amount of materials students need to carry during the school day.

Your understanding and patience in this matter are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best regards,

Trina Hayes, Principal
