District Heights Elementary School provides the following special services during the school day to meet the needs of individual students:
The speech therapist tests and works with the students having difficulty with articulation, language, stuttering, voice and/or auditory processing.
Special education resource teachers test and work with those students diagnosed as having a specific learning disability, which interferes/impedes their ability to reach their full potential.
The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher works on an itinerant basis with those students whose primary language is not English, who do not speak English in the home, and/or who do not speak English well enough to function appropriately within the school setting.
