Parent Right-to-Know
Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), parents are to be notified that they have a right to request and receive information on the professional qualifications of their child's classroom teacher(s) and paraprofessional(s).

I am sharing important need to know information about your rights to receive information regarding the qualifications of our educators. Your child attends a school that receives Federal Title I funds. You have the right to request the following information, which will be provided to you in a timely manner, if you request it:
If you would like to receive any of the above-mentioned information, please make the request in writing to your school’s principal. You can use the sample letter shown below to get started and edit for your student(s).
Here is ONE more important piece of information that parents and guardians need to have. This is our district's policy on family engagement. We want to hear from you and we would like to know what you think about our school programming.
This text can be copied and pasted into an email or into a printed letter. Include your child or children's names.

Please provide the following information about my child's teachers. My child is (child's name)
Has the teacher(s) met Maryland's qualification and licensing criteria for the grade level(s) and subject matter he or she teaches?
Has the State of Maryland decided that the teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances?
What is the teacher's college major? Does he/she have any ; whether the advanced degrees and, if so, what is the subject area of the degree(s)?
Do any paraprofessional educators provide services to my child(ren) and, if they do, what are their qualifications?
