Greetings to All Our District Heights Families!
Welcome back! I am thrilled to welcome you and your children to the 2024-2025 school year at District Heights Elementary School (DHES). I hope you had a refreshing and enjoyable summer break. As I step into my second year of educational leadership, I am thrilled to see our students' smiling faces in the classrooms once again!
Our dedicated teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare for a fantastic year ahead. We are eager to implement some exciting new lessons from our curriculum, with a continued emphasis on mathematics and literacy through the arts. I am confident that we are on the right path to fostering a bright future for our students and nurturing a love for learning through our Newton's Thinkers program and our multiple extended learning opportunities (ELO's) through Title I programs. We have added additional staff members! Every new member brings an expertise and knowledge base to their roles that will surely serve the scholars at DHES. You will soon meet our new staff members at the upcoming Student Orientations on August 23, 2024 and Back to School Night on September 5, 2024. The times are forthcoming. We are exceptionally excited to be a Community School! As a PGCPS Community School, we partner with local organizations to provide wrap-around services to our scholars and their families. Additionally, we will have a Community School Coordinator, Mrs. Casarrubias, that will serve the families of DHES.
I also want to extend a warm welcome to all our returning families and a special greeting to those who are new to our school community. Parents, please be aware that gone are the days of SchoolMax. As a school system, we are using Synergy. All PGCPS Parents/Guardians are encouraged to sign-up for the PGCPS ParentVUE Family Portal. If your information has changed, please access the Family Portal to update this very important information. This will ensure you receive district-wide updates from PGCPS. The Family Portal is open now for information updates. To access the PGCPS ParentVUE Family Portal: ParentVUE Family Portal There is additional information and videos in multiple languages on the ParentVUE Support for Parents and Guardians page.
Once again, welcome back! I look forward to another year of learning, growth, and success together.
Best regards,
Principal Tracey Smith Walters
