All coursework submitted by an employee must be completed at a regionally accredited institution or approved through the Maryland State Department of Education (CPDs). All official transcripts should be emailed directly from the institution to our office at licensure.escrip@pgcps.org.

Bachelor’s Degree Plus 45 semester hours |
The additional 45 semester hours can be up to 15 CPDS or undergraduate credits. The additional 30 credits must be graduate courses. This can also be a total of 45 graduate credits. |

Master’s Degree/Master’s Equivalent (MAQ) |
This is a total of 30 graduate courses from a graduate degree program or Master’s Degree conferred on an official transcript. |

Master’s Degree + 30 semester hours or Master’s Equivalent (MAQ) plus 30 semester hours |
This is a total of 30 graduate courses from a graduate degree program or a conferred MA degree plus an additional 30 credits.
Note: If you already have a MA or MAQ and used 15 CPDS or undergraduate credits to obtain that status, you can not use any additional CPDS or undergraduate credits. If you did not previously use the 15 CPDS or undergraduate credits to obtain that status, you can use the additional 15 CPDS or undergraduate credits.

Master’s Degree + 60 semester hours or Master’s Equivalent (MAQ) plus 60 semester hours |
This is a total of 30 graduate courses from a graduate degree program or a conferred MA degree plus an additional 60 credits.
Note: If you already have a MA or MAQ and used 15 CPDS or undergraduate credits to obtain that status, you can not use any additional CPDS or undergraduate credits. If you did not previously use the 15 CPDS or undergraduate credits to obtain that status, you can use the additional 15 CPDS or undergraduate credits. Of the 60 total credits, 45 of those credits must be graduate level credits.

The official transcript must read conferred Doctorate or Juris Doctorate. |
*A minimum of fifteen (15) hours of the coursework must be graduate level or certified by the registrar as graduate level. A maximum of fifteen (15) hours of undergraduate course credit (taken while employed) with PGCPS and/or state approved workshop may be counted toward salary advancement.
