The Dual Enrollment program is a core component of PGCPS’ Strategic Plan and the Blueprint for Maryland's Future, ensuring a sustained focus and allocation of resources to continue expanding student access to college credits early. Our partnership with PGCC boasts the highest student participation among our formal agreements with Maryland public colleges. Students take college courses in various formats, including taking courses taught by college-certified instructors at the high school campus. Remote and hybrid options are also available with in-person instruction at the college campus.

Earn college credit while still in high school! Dual to Degree gives students the opportunity to take college courses—up to two per semester that may also count toward high school graduation. These courses not only accelerate progress toward an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, but also provide the chance to boost your high school GPA with weighted college credit. Whether you prefer the structure of in-person learning, the flexibility of a hybrid schedule, or the convenience of fully online classes, Dual to Degree offers a format that fits your life.

The Accuplacer is a tool available to help colleges assess student readiness for introductory credit-bearing courses and make reliable placement decisions.

Intent to Enroll Form

Intent to enroll form... Students who wish to apply to a public Maryland college or university other than Prince George's Community College (PGCC) must submit an Intent to Enroll (ITE) form by this deadline date. Submission of the ITE form by the deadline is required in order for PGCPS to cover the cost of courses taken at institutions other than PGCC.

Sample Student Planner

To enroll in the PGCPS Dual to Degree or Dual in the School programs at Prince George's Community College (PGCC), students must be in the 11th or 12th grade (or the summer prior to 11th grade) and be actively enrolled in a Prince George's County Public Schools. A key academic requirement is having a 2.6 cumulative unweighted high school GPA. Additionally, students may use an approved college readiness or placement exam like the SAT, ACT, or Accuplacer for placement into certain courses. After meeting these criteria, students must follow a formal application process through their high school counselor and the PGCC application platform.
