Requirements to Participate

The next application cycle for the PGCPS Dual Enrollment Program is Summer/Fall 2026. Students may apply for either term or both at this time.

Students interested in attending Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) should contact the COAST Advisor assigned to their high school for guidance and next steps. The application is now open.

Additionally, students interested in applying to other public Maryland institutions should submit an Intent to Enroll form by the deadline date for the interested semester .

Intent to Enroll Submission Deadline:

Summer 2026 Semester - May 22, 2026

Fall 2026 Semester  - July 31, 2026

Students who plan to enroll in a public Maryland college or university that is NOT Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) must submit an Intent to Enroll (ITE) form by the published deadline.

Submission of the ITE form by the stated deadline is required for PGCPS to consider payment of tuition and eligible course costs at institutions other than PGCC. Failure to submit the form on time may result in the student and parent/guardian being responsible for all associated costs.

REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE

PGCPS students must meet the following criteria to participate in the Dual Enrollment Program:

  • Be enrolled in a Prince George’s County Public School by the PGCPS universal application deadline (Private and Homeschool students are not eligible for this particular program but may be eligible for Concurrent Enrollment Programs. See desired institution for more information)
  • Have a minimum 2.6 cumulative unweighted high school grade point average. Qualifying test scores (ACCUPLACER, SAT, or ACT) may be required for desired institution (Minimum admissions test score requirements vary at each college)
  • Be enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade  (this includes the summer before a student’s junior year)

Students who qualify for the program will be contacted by PGCPS. If a student is not contacted and believes he/she qualifies for the program, they should email dual.enrollment@pgcps.org or contact their professional school counselor.

Please Note:  Although seniors are able to participate in the program however they are not able to earn dual credit (courses that receive both high school and college credit) for courses taken during the spring semester of their senior year.

To be admitted into the Dual Enrollment Program students must:

Meet minimum test score or prerequisite high school course requirements for desired college/university (where applicable)

Be approved for interested college-level courses by their professional school counselor

Submit an approved Dual Enrollment application with the desired institution and a PGCPS Intent to Enroll form (where applicable)

Help at Your School

If a student is interested in the Dual Enrollment Program, they should reach out to their high school counselor. High school counselors are available to assist students and parents with navigating the application process, directing students to needed supports like COAST, and approving desired courses.

Help from PGCC

In an effort to boost statewide college-readiness initiatives, Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) has partnered with PGCPS to place COAST Advisors in most of the high schools. These Advisors work to support the counseling department at the high schools and are available to assist students and parents in maneuvering the dual enrollment process. Students and parents can access more information about the program and the contact information for the COAST Advisors at https://www.pgcc.edu/coast/

Dual In the School (DITS): Participate in the PGCPS Dual Enrollment Program During the School Day at Your High School!!

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) offers eligible high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses during the school day at their high school. These courses are taught in partnership with Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) and count for both college and high school credit.

How it Works

  • Courses are taught at your high school, either by certified high school teachers or college professors.
  • Classes are scheduled during the regular school day.
Students remain enrolled in high school but also earn college credit for eligible courses.
  • Students do not need to travel to a college campus for these courses

Why Choose In-School Dual Enrollment?

  • Convenient: Take college courses at your high school
  • Cost-Free: Tuition and fees are covered
  • Supportive: Work with familiar staff in a high school environment
