A Milestone Moment: Introducing Our New Strategic Plan

We are excited to formally introduce our new Strategic Plan, Forward by Design: Acceleration 2029!
As we celebrate this important milestone, we recognize the valuable contributions of our school community throughout the development process. Your insights helped sharpen the plan’s focus, clarify our commitments, and ensure the final version reflects the range of perspectives shared by the communities we serve.
Here’s What We Updated in the Final Plan
Your voices informed several key themes that emerged from the most recent round of feedback, leading to targeted updates, including:
- Elevating math and literacy as a shared responsibility. The plan made clear the need for math and literacy development across all content areas, recognizing its critical role in student success.
- Refining our approach to AI integration. We removed the AI strategy that was previously included under Priority 3: Expanding Access to Programs. The remaining AI-related strategies focus on strengthening staff capacity to use AI as a supportive tool to enhance, rather than replace, high-quality teaching. These strategies aim to strengthen instruction, improve impact, and bridge learning gaps, while emphasizing the responsible, safe, and ethical use of AI in our schools and across the district.
- Expanding partnership efforts. The emphasis was strengthened on building meaningful partnerships with both families and the broader community to better support students and schools.
- Strengthening our commitment to customer service and workplace culture. Language and actions were added that emphasize high-quality customer service and the importance of fostering respectful, professional workplaces.
- Increasing stakeholder involvement in implementation. Plans were included to establish an advisory council to help guide and support implementation of the strategic plan.
Why Not Everything Will Appear in the Plan
A strategic plan sets the vision and broader priorities that guide the district’s work. The specific actions, timelines, and operational details needed to carry out strategies are developed separately by the relevant departments through aligned implementation plans. Progress is then monitored and communicated through progress reports to ensure transparency and accountability.
In addition, some feedback was relevant to policy, contractual, or budget matters. These areas are governed by separate Board and district procedures, and fall outside the scope of a strategic plan. However, all feedback has been captured and will be shared with the appropriate offices for review and awareness to ensure your input continues to inform the broader work of the district.
What's Next?
Next, we will focus on developing internal implementation plans and progress-monitoring tools that will guide how this work is brought to life in schools and offices across the district. Updates will be shared through progress and annual reports.
