
Dr. Eric L. Minus is an award-winning education executive with over 25 years of experience leading instructional improvement, organizational transformation, and leadership development across three of Maryland's largest school systems. Known for his dynamic and visionary leadership, he brings a relentless commitment to excellence, professionalism, and results-driven practice.
Dr. Minus began his career as a science teacher before advancing into school leadership, where he served as principal of both Francis Scott Key Middle School and John F. Kennedy High School in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). As a principal, he led significant gains in student achievement, including a 30-point increase in mathematics performance, a 50% reduction in suspension rates through PBIS implementation, and expanded access to rigorous programming, including the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. His leadership earned him the MCPS Principal of the Year Award and the Washington Post Distinguished Educator Award.
At the district level, Dr. Minus has held several executive leadership roles. In the Howard County Public School System, he served as Administrative Director of Middle Schools, overseeing 20 schools and supporting principals in instructional leadership and school improvement. He later returned to MCPS as Director of Secondary Schools, leading systemwide initiatives focused on literacy, principal supervision, and school performance.
In Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS), Dr. Minus served as Executive Director of Research and Data Analytics, where he led a team of 24 professionals in advancing data-informed decision-making and accountability systems aligned to the district's strategic plan. He subsequently served as Executive Director of Secondary Schools, supervising middle and high schools and driving improvements in instructional quality and student outcomes.
In August 2025, Dr. Minus joined Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) as an Instructional Director in the Office of Innovation and Performance, where he supported CSI and ATSI schools in strengthening instructional systems, leadership capacity, and performance outcomes. He currently serves as Associate Superintendent for Middle, K-8, and Charter Schools (Area 2), where he leads a diverse portfolio of schools and advances system coherence, leadership effectiveness, and equitable student achievement.
Dr. Minus is also an adjunct professor at The George Washington University and Morgan State University, where he teaches graduate-level courses in educational leadership. He is deeply committed to developing leaders at all levels and believes that strong instructional leadership is essential to ensuring success for every student.
