Book Reviews for Service Hours

How to Complete a Book Review for Service Learning Hours

Students can earn up to 6 service hours per school year. Each review is worth 1 hour. 

1. Select a book

   • Go to https://destiny.pgcps.org ⇒ Your school ⇒ Catalog and search for a book

2. Or select an eBook/eAudiobook

   • Go to Clever ⇒ Sora ⇒ Login with county credentials

3. Read the book/eBook/eAudiobook

   • Read the entire book. 

4. Write a book review

   • Write a balance of a concise summary with insightful analysis and provide a clear opinion on the book's strengths and weaknesses. Make sure it is at least 150 words.

5. Submit Review 

   • Fill out this form (one per review). Double check your grammar. 

6. Submit your service hour form 

   • Please attach the Service hour form to your last review.

Reviews

Each review will be read, examined for AI-generated text and checked for word length (150 words) by a librarian. Plagiarized or AI-generated reviews will not be accepted.

Approval of Reviews

If the reviews all pass, the librarian will sign the service learning form and return it to the student.

Posts

Reviews will be posted in Destiny Online Library Catalog System for other patrons to learn about the book.
