Description
Applicants: Prior to permanent, substitute, or temporary employment, applicants must complete fingerprinting, CPS clearance, and the HB486 clearance as part of the hiring process. Background checks must be completed prior to any authorized individual having contact with any student(s).

APPLICANTS MUST:
- Complete fingerprinting - background results must be received prior to the first day of employment
- Undergo a Child Protective Services (CPS) clearance
- Complete the HB486 Clearance Process
School Visitors
Description
SCHOOL VISITORS:
Escorted and under the supervision of PGCPS employee at all times
EXAMPLES: Parent-teacher conference or meeting, training, conference or event attendees; contractors

SCHOOL VISITORS MUST:
- Scan government-issued ID into Raptor Visitor Management System upon arrival
- Wear Raptor system badge for duration of visit
- Sign out at conclusion of visit
Volunteers
Description
Not under the supervision of a PGCPS employee at all times and/or provide a variety of services on a regular basis
EXAMPLES: Tutors, mentors, teacher aides, office assistants, chaperones, interns, event gate and concession stand workers, coaches

Security Process: Fingerprinting & CPS Clearance
VOLUNTEERS MUST:
- Complete an online volunteer application. This must be done annually.
- Undergo a fingerprint check - at least 15 business days in advance of volunteer activity. Results must be received prior to engaging in volunteer activity.
- Undergo a Child Protective Services (CPS) clearance - at least 15 business days in advance of volunteer activity
- Complete the required online SafeSchools training course(s) each school year - prior to engaging in volunteer activity. Click here to access the training
One-Time Volunteers
Description
ONE-TIME VOLUNTEERS AT A SCHOOL EVENT:
Escorted and under the supervision of PGCPS employee at all times (NOTE: If assisting with multiple events each school year, follow procedure for volunteers below)
EXAMPLES: Career Day, Science Fair, College Fair, Spelling Bee, STEM Fair, Principal for a Day, Men Make a Difference Day, Book Fair, school dances

Services and Fees
- Fingerprinting and Child Protective Services(CPS) Clearance $61
For all PGCPS employees, volunteers assisting on campus more than once each school year with students and/or chaperoning on field trips, and independent contractors. Fee may be waived if volunteer parent or guardian has a child in the Free and Reduced Meal Program (FARM). Parent or guardian must bring a copy of the FARM letter to the fingerprint office to qualify for the free fingerprint.
