Upper Marlboro, MD — On Friday, November 14, Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) will join districts nationwide to celebrate Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day honoring the 65th anniversary of six-year-old Ruby Bridges and her historic role in the desegregation of public schools.
The district's Unity Walk to School in Mount Rainier — featuring students, families, elected officials, and community advocates — will serve as the day's centerpiece event, highlighting the importance of pedestrian safety and the shared responsibility of keeping students safe. The walk also underscores the power of collaboration across county, state, and municipal partners, and celebrates the leadership of community advocates whose efforts continue to advance safe routes to and from school throughout Prince George's County.
