In alignment with the goals and priorities of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), the School Performance Plan (SPP) allows for a transparent and collaborative school improvement process with a focus on student achievement.
The School Performance Plan was developed this school year as the continuation of the detailed work and planning completed in the previous school year. The SPP focuses schools on engaging in disciplined inquiry cycles through the use of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). Through the successful utilization of PDSA, schools are able to impact student achievement and teacher practice by taking a scientific approach to school improvement.

SMART Goals A targeted aspiration that serves as the focal point for collective improvement efforts Specific; Measurable; Achievable; Realistic; Timebound |
Math- By the end of School Year 2026 the students in grades 3 through 5 will increase proficiency by 5% on MCAP |
RELA/ELA-By June 2026, students in Grades 3–5 will increase MCAP ELA proficiency by 5 percentage points through improved instruction focused on citing evidence and constructing well-developed written responses. |
Not Selected- |
Problem of Practice One problem the school has chosen to address that will assist them in moving toward the overarching Smart Goal |
Teachers are not using the curriculum in order to ensure they are meeting the students needs. Students are struggling to model and reason through a task., due to a lack of understanding of the standard by both the teacher and student. |
When reviewing open-ended reading responses, many students summarize the text but do not include text-based evidence or fully explain their answers. This suggests that teachers are not consistently modeling or providing sufficient guided practice with citing evidence and constructing written responses. |
Change Idea A specific, actionable idea or technique that school teams will use to address the SMART Goal |
During collaborative planning, teachers will complete a know and show chart unpacking the standards for what their students will be learning. |
During collaborative planning, teachers will complete a Know & Show Chart using the See It, Name It, Do It model to define what mastery of the standard looks like and how students will demonstrate it. Instructional coaching cycles will then focus on alignment between the Know & Show Chart and analysis of student work, |
providing targeted feedback and short-cycle adjustments to improve lesson alignment and student outcomes. |
Target The AIM set to determine if the implementation of the change idea was successful |
4 out of 5 teachers will complete the Unpacking the standards worksheet following collaborative planning.
They will analyze student work to support evidence of standard alignment Teachers will implement the math curriculum aligned with MCAP standards, ensuring fidelity in teaching practices by the end of the first semester of the 2025 school year.
Teacher will receive 1 informal observation every 2 weeks and be provided with coaching feedback, after which they will implement |
During observations, teachers will demonstrate increased use of aligned tasks and success criteria, with 80% implementing at least one feedback action step within two weeks of coaching. Teachers will analyze student work samples to ensure alignment with the unpacked standard and success criteria. By the end of the first semester of SY25, teachers will consistently implement the ELA curriculum aligned with MCAP standards with fidelity. |
By May 2026, at least **70% of students in grades 3–5** will meet or exceed their expected growth targets on iReady/DreamBox and district/state math assessments, as measured by interim checkpoints and end-of-year results. |
