Whitehall Elementary School Performance Plan

In alignment with the goals and priorities of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), the School Performance Plan (SPP) allows for a transparent and collaborative school improvement process with a focus on student achievement.

The School Performance Plan was developed this school year as the continuation of the detailed work and planning completed in the previous school year. The SPP focuses schools on engaging in disciplined inquiry cycles through the use of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). Through the successful utilization of PDSA, schools are able to impact student achievement and teacher practice by taking a scientific approach to school improvement.

When analyzing Math data, it was determined that Math Reasoning while writing has been Whitehall's biggest area for improvement.

When analyzing RELA data, it was determined that students continue to struggle with providing evidence and supporting information for their written responses.

 

Change Idea

A specific, actionable idea or technique that school teams will use to address the SMART Goal

During our Analyzing Scholar Work sessions, all Math teachers will bring samples of student work with a focus on Math reasoning and how students can explain this in their writing.

During our Analyzing Scholar Work sessions, all RELA teachers will bring samples of student work with a focus on writing samples that ask students to justify their responses using evidence from the text.

75% of teachers observed will model their thinking and reasoning daily throughout their lessons.

75% of classrooms will have evidence of discourse in writing. This can either be done through actual writing samples or in discourse that asks students to use evidence from the

50% of students will score a meet or exceeds expectations when scoring assignments during Analyzing Scholar Work sessions.

50% of writing work samples will be scored either meeting or exceeding expecations using the ATLAS Analyzing Scholar Work protocol.
