Vansville Elementary School Performance Plan

Introduction

In alignment with the goals and priorities of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), the School Performance Plan (SPP) allows for a transparent and collaborative school improvement process with a focus on student achievement.

The School Performance Plan was developed this school year as the continuation of the detailed work and planning completed in the previous school year. The SPP focuses schools on engaging in disciplined inquiry cycles through the use of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). Through the successful utilization of PDSA, schools are able to impact student achievement and teacher practice by taking a scientific approach to school improvement.

Not Selected-
Problem of Practice
Students are not provided opportunities throughout the math talk, launch, explore and summarize to explain or justify their thinking in math. The K-5 lesson structure is not consistently implemented to ensure students are engaged in the math curriculum with fidelity. Chronic absenteeism has a significant impact on the schools MCAP rating. There is a lack of clear accountability systems, consistent follow-up procedures, and meaningful interventions, that would reduce chronic absenteeism.
Change Idea
Focus on Standard for Mathematical Practice (SMP3) that will specifically target construct viable arguments and critique of others-during collaborative planning, observations and walkthroughs. Implementing a consistent attendance accountability system.
Target
