Vansville Elementary School Performance Plan

In alignment with the goals and priorities of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), the School Performance Plan (SPP) allows for a transparent and collaborative school improvement process with a focus on student achievement.

The School Performance Plan was developed this school year as the continuation of the detailed work and planning completed in the previous school year. The SPP focuses schools on engaging in disciplined inquiry cycles through the use of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). Through the successful utilization of PDSA, schools are able to impact student achievement and teacher practice by taking a scientific approach to school improvement.

SMART Goals

A targeted

aspiration that serves as the focal point for collective improvement efforts

Specific; Measurable; Achievable; Realistic; Timebound

Math- Goal #1 :During the 2024-2025 school year, the percentage of students scoring proficient or higher will increase by 5 percentage points as measured by the 2025 Mathematics MCAP.

Baseline 2025: 18%

Target 2026: 23%

Attendance-By June 2026, our school will reduce chronic absenteeism by 2.5% by that ensures timely follow-up on absences, establishes clear consequences and interventions, and celebrates improved attendance.

Baseline 2025: 27.5%

Target 2026: 25%

Not Selected-

Problem of Practice

One problem the school has chosen to address that will assist them in moving toward the overarching Smart Goal

Students are not provided opportunities throughout the math talk, launch, explore and summarize to explain or justify their thinking in math. The K-5 lesson structure is not consistently implemented to ensure students are engaged in the math curriculum with fidelity.

Chronic absenteeism has a significant impact on the schools MCAP rating. There is a lack of clear accountability systems, consistent follow-up procedures, and meaningful interventions, that would reduce chronic absenteeism.

Change Idea

A specific, actionable idea or technique that school teams will use to address the SMART Goal

Focus on Standard for Mathematical Practice (SMP3) that will specifically target construct viable arguments and critique of others-during collaborative planning, observations and walkthroughs.

Implementing a consistent attendance accountability system.

Target

The AIM set to determine if the implementation of the change idea was successful

**50% of math teachers will score at a level 3 using the math implementation rubric.**

Teachers will complete the truancy checklist after a student has accumulated four absences.

**Student indicator**

**Benchmark ** - 25% of students scored a level 3 or above on Benchmark 2

**Milestones** - 76% of students have an average score of 61% or above on milestone assessments

The student target is for chronic absenteeism to decrease to 25% or less (2.5% decrease) by June 2026.
