Valley View Elementary School Performance Plan

Introduction

In alignment with the goals and priorities of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), the School Performance Plan (SPP) allows for a transparent and collaborative school improvement process with a focus on student achievement.

The School Performance Plan was developed this school year as the continuation of the detailed work and planning completed in the previous school year. The SPP focuses schools on engaging in disciplined inquiry cycles through the use of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). Through the successful utilization of PDSA, schools are able to impact student achievement and teacher practice by taking a scientific approach to school improvement.

Problem of Practice
Students in grades 3-5 struggle with standards associated with fractions. When we analyzed the lowest performing standards, 3rd and 4th grade students showed difficulty with understanding informational text.
Change Idea
Teachers will explore and solve one common math task bi-weekly to reduce variability in representations by creating common mathematical representations, strengthen teacher content knowledge through discourse and identify student misconceptions. Teachers will strengthen differentiated focus group instruction by effectively and consistently using targeted Amplify, iReady lessons and data (mCLASS, DIBELS, iReady reports) to target student needs and improve literacy outcomes.
Target
80% of teachers will submit at least 65% of artifacts bi-weekly that demonstrate the alignment of the math task/mathematical representation from Collaborative Planning. 80% of teachers will submit 70% of their artifacts for each cycle within the SPP cycle that demonstrates work with Amplify and iReady.
50% of K-5 students will score 70% or higher on the milestone task 50% of K-3 students will increase their BOY to MOY score by:

Kindergarten - 32 points
First Grade - 29 points
Second Grade - 30 points
Third Grade -30 points

50% of 4th and 5th grade students will pass at least 70% of their personalized instruction assigned iReady lessons (bi-weekly)
