Riverdale Elementary School Performance Plan

In alignment with the goals and priorities of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), the School Performance Plan (SPP) allows for a transparent and collaborative school improvement process with a focus on student achievement.

The School Performance Plan was developed this school year as the continuation of the detailed work and planning completed in the previous school year. The SPP focuses schools on engaging in disciplined inquiry cycles through the use of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). Through the successful utilization of PDSA, schools are able to impact student achievement and teacher practice by taking a scientific approach to school improvement.

SMART Goals

A targeted

aspiration that serves as the focal point for collective improvement efforts

Specific; Measurable; Achievable; Realistic; Timebound

Math- During the 2024-2025 SY, the percent of students scoring proficient or higher will increase by  7                          percentage points as measured by the 2025 MCAP assessment in

3-5 grades from the 2024 MCAP Math Administration.

RELA/ELA-During the 2025-2026 SY, the percent of students scoring proficient or higher will increase by 7 percentage points as measured by the 2026 MCAP assessment in grades 3-5

Not Selected-

Problem of Practice

One problem the school has chosen to address that will assist them in moving toward the overarching Smart Goal

Math vocabulary is not modeled explicitly with visuals to students. Therefore, students lack knowledge of mathematics vocabulary. This impedes student understanding and mastery of mathematics concepts and has an effect on the math writing necessary to express mathematical thinking.

There is insufficient planning and differentiating of lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet students at their ability level. Therefore, students are facing challenges in decoding, language acquisition, comprehension and expression of their thoughts in oral and written form at grade level expectations and proficiency.

Change Idea

A specific, actionable idea or technique that school teams will use to address the SMART Goal

The change we are going to implement is a scripted math intervention program, V Math. This will place students on varying levels based on their diagnostic results at their grade level. The teacher will receive a scripted lesson plan/guide to implement and assessment tools to monitor student progress

We will continue to implement a scripted intervention/enrichment block in grades 3-5 for reading instruction based on assessment data.

Target

The AIM set to determine if the implementation of the change idea was successful

50% of the Math teachers will demonstrate at least 70% of the components of the Look For Document.

50% of the reading teachers will demonstrate at least 70% the components on the Foundational Skills Look For Document.

10% of our students will meet proficiency according to PG standards for Math Benchmark 1 in grades 1-5.

From fall to winter their will be a 7% increase in the number of students meeting proficiency in the Reading Benchmark in grades 3-5.
