Lewisdale Elementary School Performance Plan

In alignment with the goals and priorities of Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), the School Performance Plan (SPP) allows for a transparent and collaborative school improvement process with a focus on student achievement.

The School Performance Plan was developed this school year as the continuation of the detailed work and planning completed in the previous school year. The SPP focuses schools on engaging in disciplined inquiry cycles through the use of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA). Through the successful utilization of PDSA, schools are able to impact student achievement and teacher practice by taking a scientific approach to school improvement.

Not Selected-

Problem of Practice

One problem the school has chosen to address that will assist them in moving toward the overarching Smart Goal

Teachers inconsistently use tasks that mirror MCAP reasoning items, including those from the CFPGs.

Teachers do not understand how to deliver explicit instruction on phonics with fidelity. Students struggle to read on grade level reading texts/words.

Change Idea

A specific, actionable idea or technique that school teams will use to address the SMART Goal

Consistent use of tasks that mirror MCAP reasoning items that are included in the CFPGs.

Explicit phonics instruction will be delivered with fidelity, according the the PGCPS CIMs.

Target

The AIM set to determine if the implementation of the change idea was successful

At least 80% of math teachers in grades 3 to 5 will demonstrate 8 out of the 10 criteria on the Look For Tool for Reasoning and Sensemaking.

At least 80% of teachers in grades K to 2 will demonstrate 9 out of the 10 criteria on the Look For Tool on Phonics.

PI Target: The average percent correct on reasoning items on Benchmark 1 for students in grades 3-5 will be at least 30%.

IPI Target: On the Math Milestone, at least 20% of students in grades 3-5 will score 2 or 3 on the math reasoning questions worth 3 points.

IPI: The percentage of proficiency (those students considered to be meeting the benchmark) in grades K-2 will increase by 15% on the Dibels subtest of Nonsense Words

Evidence-Based Strategies: i-Ready Math & Lexia (reading)

Due to the fact that students are struggling with solving word problems, our Evidence-Based Strategy will remain i-Ready Math, as it includes the presentation of word problems to students.

Because students are struggling in the area of phonics, our Evidence-Based Strategy has changed to Lexia, as the intervention focuses on developing both phonics and phonemic awareness. It also does not depend on the delivery of lessons by a teacher.

**i-Ready Math:**

*    Students will engage with the i-Ready Math intervention at least 60 minutes each week and pass at least 70% of their lessons.

**Lexia:**

*    Students will engage with the Lexia intervention at least 60 minutes each week and complete at least 8 units.
