Two newly transformed libraries, one at Benjamin Tasker Middle School and another at the Bonnie F. Johns Educational Media Center, were unveiled during a ribbon cutting on November 20.

The celebrations were hosted by PGCPS along with Heart of America (HOA),
and the Pull Up Fund.

These library makeovers part of HOA’s multi-million-dollar effort to reimagine 47 libraries across the district, including a district-wide professional training
library designed to support educators.

“I’m thrilled to showcase the transformation of our Professional Library—a space that has evolved from dark and cluttered to bright, modern, and inspiring,” said Catherine Francoeur, Instructional Assistant, Library Media Services. “Thanks to the leadership of the Office of Library Media and this incredible renovation, the library now reflects the creativity, collaboration, and innovation it was always meant to support.”

This year-long project represents one of the largest public-private partnerships ever focused solely on revitalizing public school libraries—and the unveiling of these libraries showcased exactly why this work matters.

With fresh, flexible spaces and greater access to books and literacy resources, these libraries are now hubs for learning, creativity, and possibility.
