Bullying, Harassment or Intimidation

Step 1 — Submit a Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation Report

Best for:

All bullying, harassment, or intimidation concerns should be reported using the PGCPS Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation Reporting Form or the online reporting app.

Reports may be submitted by students, parents/guardians, staff, or community members.

Submit a Bullying Report

You may also speak with a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, or principal for immediate support.

Step 2 — School Investigation & Follow-Up

After a report is received, school administrators will investigate the concern and follow district procedures.

Schools may:

  • Meet with students and witnesses
  • Review evidence
  • Provide student support
  • Implement interventions or disciplinary action when appropriate
  • Follow up with families

Parents/guardians of involved students will be notified after the investigation is completed.

If you believe your concern was not appropriately addressed by the school, the Department of Student Services can provide additional assistance and support.

Enrollment & Student Records

Health & Medical Concerns

PGCPS Health Services supports student health, medication administration, chronic health conditions, immunizations, and school-based medical accommodations.


Step 1 — Contact the School Nurse

  • Medical accommodations
  • Illness or injury concerns
  • Chronic health condition support

Your school nurse can assist with student health needs and school-based medical support.


Step 2 — Contact the Nurse Manager

The Nurse Manager provides additional oversight and support for school health services.

Homeless & McKinney-Vento Support

PGCPS provides support and educational protections for students and families experiencing homelessness through the McKinney-Vento Program. Students experiencing homelessness have the right to immediate enrollment, school stability, transportation assistance, and access to educational services.


Step 1 — Contact the School Principal

Best for:

  • Immediate school enrollment concerns
  • School attendance questions
  • School stability concerns
  • Questions about school-based support services

If your family is experiencing homelessness or temporary housing instability, contact your child’s school principal for immediate assistance and support.


Step 2 — Contact the McKinney-Vento Program (Homeless Education)

Best for:

  • Immediate enrollment assistance
  • Transportation support
  • School of origin requests
  • Homeless eligibility questions
  • McKinney-Vento protections and services
  • Enrollment barriers related to missing documents

The McKinney-Vento Program helps remove barriers to school enrollment and access for students experiencing homelessness. Families may qualify even if they are temporarily living with others due to loss of housing or economic hardship.

If a disagreement occurs regarding eligibility, school placement, or services, families have the right to appeal through the Office of Appeals.

Families may appeal decisions to the Prince George’s County Board of Education as outlined in district procedures.

Special Education Services

PGCPS is committed to supporting students with disabilities and working collaboratively with families throughout the special education process.

Step 1 — Contact Your Child’s IEP Team or School Staff

Best for:

  • Questions about IEP services
  • Classroom accommodations
  • Progress updates
  • Related services
  • Scheduling IEP meetings
  • Concerns about classroom support

You may contact your child’s:

  • special education teacher,
  • IEP case manager,

  • counselor,
  • or IEP chairperson.

These staff members are usually the best first contact for day-to-day questions and support.

504 Plan Concerns

Section 504 provides accommodations and support services for students with disabilities to ensure equal access to educational programs and activities.


Step 1 — Contact Your Child’s School Counselor or 504 Case Manager

Best for:

  • Questions about accommodations
  • Requests for a Section 504 evaluation
  • Concerns about implementation of a 504 Plan
  • Classroom accommodations
  • Scheduling a 504 meeting

Section 504 evaluations and plans are developed by the school-based 504 Team. If you believe your child may need accommodations under Section 504, contact your child’s school counselor or 504 Case Manager.


Step 2 — Contact the School-Based 504 Building Facilitator

Best for:

  • Ongoing accommodation concerns
  • Questions about 504 procedures
  • Concerns not resolved through the school counselor or 504 team
  • Requests for additional school support

The school-based 504 Building Facilitator (designated assistant principal) can help address concerns related to implementation and school-level support.


Step 3 — Contact the School Principal

Best for:

  • Concerns not resolved through the school 504 team
  • Requests for additional review
  • Questions regarding school-level decisions
  • Escalated accommodation concerns

The principal can review concerns regarding school-level implementation of Section 504 accommodations and services.

Step 4 — Contact the Office of 504 Services

Best for:

  • District-level review
  • Parent grievances
  • Appeals or procedural concerns
  • Questions regarding Section 504 rights and safeguards
  • Concerns not resolved at the school level

The Office of 504 Services assists schools and families with Section 504 implementation and helps resolve parent concerns that cannot be settled at the school level. Parents may also request a review or hearing regarding Section 504 decisions.

Step 5 - Contact the Ombudsman

Short-Term & Long-Term Suspensions (1–10 Days)

PGCPS follows established procedures for student discipline and suspensions as outlined in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook

Step 2 — Contact the Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW)

Best for:

  • Disputing a suspension
  • Questions regarding disciplinary procedures
  • Requests for additional review

If a parent/guardian disputes the issuance of a suspension, the parent/guardian should contact the assigned Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW) within ten (10) days of the student’s first day of suspension. The PPW may review the circumstances of the suspension and, if appropriate, meet with the principal and parent/guardian.

Step 4 - Contact the Ombudsman

Extended Suspensions & Expulsions (11+ Days)

PGCPS follows Administrative Procedure 5115 for extended suspensions and expulsions. Learn more about the extended and expulsion process.


Step 1 — Receive Written Notification from the Principal

Best for:

  • Understanding the disciplinary recommendation
  • Reviewing the alleged policy violation
  • Learning next steps in the disciplinary process

On the day a student is recommended for an extended suspension or expulsion, the principal must provide written notification to the parent/guardian describing the policy violation and pending disciplinary request.


Step 2 — Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW) Investigation

Best for:

  • Reviewing the circumstances of the incident
  • Understanding the investigation process
  • Receiving support information

The Pupil Personnel Worker (PPW) serves as the Superintendent’s designee for conducting a thorough investigation and determining whether an extended suspension or expulsion is warranted. The parent/guardian will receive an investigative report from the PPW prior to the conference. Appropriate and available behavioral support services will be offered.


Step 3 — Participate in the Office of Appeals & Hearings Conference

Best for:

  • Presenting information and evidence
  • Participating in the disciplinary hearing process
  • Understanding disciplinary recommendations
  • Reviewing possible outcomes

The Office of Appeals & Hearings will schedule and conduct the conference before the student’s tenth consecutive day of suspension. Following the conference, the Office of Appeals & Hearings will issue a written determination indicating whether the request for extended suspension or expulsion will be upheld, denied, or modified.

Step 4 — Appeal to the Board of Education

  • Appealing the determination issued by the Office of Appeals & Hearings
  • Submitting additional supporting information

A parent/guardian has the right to appeal the determination issued by the Office of Appeals & Hearings to the Board of Education within ten (10) calendar days of the written decision.

Technology Support

PGCPS provides support for student devices, passwords, online learning tools, and access to digital resources.

Step 1 — Contact Your Child’s Teacher or School

Best for:

  • Student login issues
  • Password resets
  • Google Classroom or Canvas questions
  • Device concerns
  • Classroom technology questions
  • ParentVUE or StudentVUE questions

Your child’s teacher or school staff can often resolve technology issues quickly.


Step 2 — Contact the School Administration

  • Ongoing device issues
  • Connectivity concerns
  • Technology concerns not resolved through the teacher
  • School-issued Chromebook support
  • Student account access concerns
