FALL 2019 - BOUNDARY STUDIES

On November 21, 2019, the Board of Education approved changes to boundaries and grade structure. See the Board Action Summary.

The approved changes are as follows:

As a continuation of the district’s commitment to realigning all comprehensive sixth grades to middle school, for school year 2020-2021, the sixth grade from the following elementary schools will be realigned to the neighborhood middle schools

Allenwood Elementary School to Thurgood Marshall Middle School
Avalon Elementary School to Isaac Gourdine Middle School and Thurgood Marshall Middle School
North Forestville Elementary School to Walker Mill Middle School
Princeton Elementary School to Thurgood Marshall Middle School

In order to accommodate expansion of the Spanish Immersion Program to middle years, modifications to comprehensive middle school boundaries will be implemented to ensure sufficient space is available at the selected program location: For school year 2020-2021, the following will apply:

Rising sixth-grade students from Patuxent Elementary School will matriculate to James Madison Middle School rather than Kettering Middle School.

Rising sixth-grade students from Marlton Elementary School will matriculate to Gwynn Park Middle School rather than James Madison Middle School.

In accordance with Section V of Administrative Procedure 8391 (Minor Boundary Change) the following adjustments to comprehensive school assignments will be implemented for school year 2020-2021:

Assign the Greenbelt Station development to Greenbelt Elementary School for grades K-5th and Eleanor Roosevelt High School for grades 9th-12th.
Assign the portion of Paint Branch Elementary School that feeds into Hyattsville Middle School to Greenbelt Middle School for grades 7th-8th.
